Today’s credit card comparison is between the St George Vertigo and Macquarie Low Rate credit cards.

Credit card comparison verdict: The StGeorge Vertigo offers an introductory purchases rate of 2.99% for 6 months where the Macquarie Low Rate begins with a standard variable rate on purchases of 13.45%. After 6 months the St George Vertigo purchases reverts to a standard variable purchases rate almost 1% less at 12.49%. Both cards offer up to 55 days interest free. Both cards have excellent low annual fee charges of $55 and $50 respectively. Both credit cards have high interest cash advance rates currently 21.24 and 20.95 respectively.

In comparing balance transfer offers we see some difference between these two credit cards. While both offer low rate balance transfer introductory rates the period vary. The Macquarie rate saver introductory rate of 0% is for 4 months only where the St George Vertigo offers 2.99% for 6months.  At the end of the introductory period both cards will charge customers at the purchases rate for any amount outstanding on the balance transfer.
